The Lost-Item Note to Save Before Your Seoul Trip

Losing a bag is bad. Trying to describe it while your brain searches for both the bag and its Korean vocabulary is an unnecessary sequel.

Save a short note before you travel. It will not guarantee a recovery, but it can make the first conversation with a café employee, hotel desk or transport staff much clearer. This is a language template, not an official lost-property report.

Start with what you know

Write the item, a distinguishing feature, the place you last remember having it, and an approximate date and time. Separate a memory from a guess. “I last saw it at the café” is more useful than confidently accusing the café of having it.

Copy this Korean-English note

— I lost an item.

— It is a black bag.

— I was here around three this afternoon.

— By any chance, do you have it in safekeeping?

— Where should I ask?

Replace the example description and time with your actual details. Do not show “three this afternoon” merely because this page says so; your bag deserves an accurate witness statement.

Use these blanks

Item: ___
Colour and distinctive features: ___
Last place I remember seeing it: ___
Date and approximate time: ___
How I can be contacted: ___

For a transport journey, also note any route, station, direction or vehicle details you actually remember. A receipt or booking record may help you reconstruct the journey. Keep uncertain details labelled as uncertain.

Make the description recognisable

“A black backpack with a green zipper pull” is easier to distinguish than “my backpack.” A photo of the item can help, provided it does not reveal private documents. If a staff member finds a possible match, follow their procedure for identifying and collecting it.

Share contact details with the appropriate staff or official reporting service, rather than posting passport numbers, payment-card details or your complete hotel itinerary in a public comment.

Ask for the next step in writing

— Could you write it down?

Use this when you need a desk name, collection location or follow-up instruction. Then check that you understand where to go and when. Do not assume that one venue, operator or office handles every lost item in Seoul.

Keep one copy of this template somewhere you can reach if your main phone is the missing item. A note that lives only inside the lost phone has excellent privacy and terrible availability.
