Open Until Nine Does Not Answer Every Question: Three Korean Café Time Labels

이미지
A sign says a café closes at nine. You arrive before nine and discover that the order you wanted is no longer available. The closing time answered one question; you needed to ask another. Here are three Korean time labels to keep separate. This is a language guide with invented examples, not a statement of any particular café’s current hours. 영업시간: business hours 영업시간 labels the business’s operating hours. An example sign might say “영업시간 10:00–21:00.” That tells you the displayed operating window, but it does not by itself describe every service offered within it. Check whether the notice applies to the day you intend to visit. A photograph of an old sign or a listing without context may not answer that question. When the visit matters, confirm the current information directly with the venue. 라스트 오더: last order 라스트 오더 is the last-order time. A fictional café could display closing at 21:00 and last order at 20:30. Those two times are doing different jobs. Ask 주문은 몇 시까지 가능한가요? —Until w...

The Lost-Item Note to Save Before Your Seoul Trip

Losing a bag is bad. Trying to describe it while your brain searches for both the bag and its Korean vocabulary is an unnecessary sequel. Save a short note before you travel. It will not guarantee a recovery, but it can make the first conversation with a café employee, hotel desk or transport staff much clearer. This is a language template, not an official lost-property report. Start with what you know Write the item, a distinguishing feature, the place you last remember having it, and an approximate date and time. Separate a memory from a guess. “I last saw it at the café” is more useful than confidently accusing the café of having it. Copy this Korean-English note 물건을 잃어버렸어요. — I lost an item. 검은색 가방이에요. — It is a black bag. 오늘 오후 세 시쯤 여기 있었어요. — I was here around three this afternoon. 혹시 보관하고 계신가요? — By any chance, do you have it in safekeeping? 어디에 문의하면 될까요? — Where should I ask? Replace the example description and time with your actual details. Do not show “three this afternoon” m...

The Seoul Date That Ends Before the Last Train

A Seoul night often ends with two very different questions: “Was that fun?” and “Did we miss the last train?” Check the last train for the exact station and direction before dinner, because the final departure varies by line, day and transfer path. Save the route in a Korean map app, screenshot the station name in Korean, and keep a taxi fallback. Late-night buses can help, but their stops and intervals are not a substitute for checking the current route. If your trip crosses the river or requires a transfer, leave extra time. The romantic version of Seoul is spontaneous. The practical version has a battery pack and knows which side of the platform goes home. Tmoney, EZL, WOWPASS or Climate Card? Start With Your Route

The cheapest souvenir from a confusing Seoul commute may be the lesson that a transport card is not the same thing as unlimited travel. VISITKOREA currently compares Tmoney, EZL, WOWPASS and the Climate Card, each with different purchase, reload and use conditions. Before choosing, answer four questions: how many days are you staying, which cities will you visit, will you use airport or intercity transport, and where can you reload or refund the remaining balance? Tmoney is widely sold at convenience stores and subway information centers, but a different card may fit a particular itinerary. Save the official comparison page and check the date. Prices, coverage and refund rules can change. Buy for the route you will actually take, not for the card whose design looks most prepared for Instagram. The 2026 Chuseok Travel Card: What to Confirm Before September 24

Korea's 2026 Chuseok holiday runs September 24–26, with Chuseok Day on September 25. That fact is cultural; it is also extremely practical. Train and express-bus seats can sell out, and opening hours vary. A romantic plan that ignores transport is just a beautifully formatted cancellation. For this weekend, the official tourism calendar lists the Seoul Street Arts Festival for September 19–20 at Seoul Forest and Ttukseom Hangang Park. Treat the listing as a starting point: confirm the organizer's current schedule, weather notice, accessibility, and last transport before leaving. Build a plan with one fixed point and one optional point. Agree on the exit, the meeting landmark, and what happens if the site is crowded. For the holiday week, check transport, venue hours, meal options, and the return trip. Save the Korean name and address of each place. The Korea Tourism Organization also advises checking each venue directly because holiday hours vary; 1330 provides multilingual t...

Save This Korean Booking Card Before You Need It

REQUESTED QUOTED CONFIRMED You asked. You have a price. The booking is accepted. The most useful travel note is often the one you prepare while nobody is waiting for your answer. Here is an original booking clarification card for non-medical services in Korea. The goal is not to sound impressively fluent. It is to distinguish the service you want, the price you have been quoted and the booking the business has actually confirmed. You can show the Korean sentence and its English meaning together. 1. Confirm the whole service “이 금액에 어떤 서비스가 포함되어 있나요?” “What services are included in this price?” Fill in the exact service rather than sending a vague photograph and assuming all its details are included. Ask separately about any option you want. This question does not imply that the business has hidden charges; it makes the scope clear. 2. Confirm the unit of the quote “이 금액은 두 명 합계인가요, 한 명 기준인가요?” “Is this the total for two people, or the price per person?” Change the number to match your p...
